Notice when it changes
Does it worsen after rain, when an installation is used, or during colder periods with the property closed? Record the timing. These are clues rather than proof of a single cause.

Show the whole room
A damp band at floor level can have several sources, including ground moisture, lateral water or pipework. A ceiling mark may relate to a roof, façade or another entry point. Include a wide photo and close-ups.

List earlier repairs
Previous paint, sealants, grout and treatments help explain the history. If damp returns, reassess the cause before repeating the repair. Do not strip finishes or climb onto a roof to prepare the enquiry.

Prepare useful information
Send the town, approximate start date, one overall image and two details. An outside image is useful only if you can obtain it safely. A single meter reading on a different material is not a reliable comparison.
